Concert of the Balinese Gamelan Orchestra “Taruna Mekar”from Tunjuk in Salzburg
With the aid of Dieter Mack, the Gamelan Ensemble “Taruna Mekar” from Tunjuk/Bali that has already successfully performed during the Contemporary Gamelan Festival 2005 at the House of World Cultures in Berlin, will perform during the first Salzburg Biennale on March 15/16, 2009. Featured American composer Steve Reich had asked for a gamelan concert in addition to his own compositions. The orchestra’s leader is I Madé Arnawa who has studied composition with Dieter Mack from 2000 – 2003 in Surakarta/Java.
